Another Hill, Another Win for Mr Tadros. Pete Tadros of In-Gear Quickvit Trainsharp convincingly won Saturday's trip up Steyning Bostal, finishing in 4.13.3.
The inclement weather broadly held off but with the absence of Messrs Dennis and McNamara, Ishmael Burdeau (Agiskovioner.com) happily stepped up to claim 2nd spot with 4.27.9. Mike Coyle of Brighton Mitre was 3rd on 4.28.1 and clubmate Sholto Haggart was 4th with 4.40.1, just 0.7 secs ahead of Phil Lisher of Team Welwyn. |

A well deserved and overdue win for Dave Shepherd.
Murky misty conditions for the first hour didn't deter Dave Shepherd (GS Stella) from claiming the SCA championship 50 on the G50/10 A272/A24 course. His winning time of 1:57:30 was the only sub 2 hour ride of the morning though there it was pretty tight for placings 2 - 5. |

Tadros and Dwyer claim the top spots on a packed May Day event. The flat bling 10 went to Nick Dwyer of Lewes Wanderers with 20:58, narrowly beating Pete Tadros by 3 seconds. Iain Brogden of Eastbourne Rovers was 3rd with 21:44.
Pete Tadros was untouchable on the final hilly event with a new course record 24:14, 1:24 clear of 2nd place Ian Brogden. 3rd place went to Rob Pelham of Lewes Wanderers with 25:52. Tadros changed bikes at the bottom of the hill, moving from his PlanetX fixed to a geared bike. Is this the way to tackle this event in future? |

Refreshingly cool but sunny conditions greeted the field at the start just of the A23. The temps soon warmed up on the course which ran down to Cowfold before heading out to the A24 and then down to Steyning. The return is via two trips in and out of Henfield before tackling the tortuous climb back up Crabtree and then the deceptively draggy return back to Handcross. Were there a man of the match award, it would probably go to Rob Pelham (Lewes Wanderers) who is on blistering form at the mo and bagged 2nd place, over a minute clear of 3rd place man Mike Coyle of Brighton Mitre.Wanderers added to their 2010 haul of team prizes and Jayne Wadsworth of De Laune CC was the fastest lady with 2:04:56.

As predicted, pre race favourite Michael Hutchinson comfortably won the 25 with 51:12, 1:40 quicker than Steve Dennis who in turn trumped Pete Tadros by 20 seconds.
Dave Dent of Wightlink/Offshore RT was 4th with 54:17 and Saturday's winner, Nick Dwyer 5th with 54:17. Dave and club mate Sean Williams had travelled over on the 4AM IOW ferry to compete so my thanks to them for making the effort. The In-Gear Quickvit Trainsharp trio of Hutchinson, Tadros and Pollard claimed fastest team with a combined 2:39:35, well over 8 minutes quicker than 2nd place Lewes. Lewes claimed the ladies prize again with Sarah Dwyer coming home in 1:11:18. The threatened weather largely held off though later riders unfortunately got a soaking. The Steyning triathlon was also running at the same time and there was only one 'casualty', James Horan, who regrettably must have got swallowed up in a rush of competitors at the finish and was missed. |
